Or rather…expensive.

10. Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva — $80 million

Before making it big in movies like The Untouchables, Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves and JFK, Kevin Costner was a college student at California State, Fullerton. There he met Cindy Silva and married her in 1978.

At first all was peaceful married bliss. But when Kevin reached super star status in the 90s’ he found it harder and harder to keep his pants  up.

Price tag: $80 million.

9.  Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving — $100 million

Steven and Amy dated for three years before getting married in 1985. After only 4 years of marriage, the couple had had enough.  To bad for Steven, the judge threw out the pre-nupt as it was written on a napkin.

You’d think the guy who made E.T, Jaws and Indiana Jones would have had better forethought then to scribble down his pre-nupt on a napkin.

That was a $100 million dollar mistake.

8. Greg Norman and Laura Andrassy — $103 million

Famous golfer Greg Norman married flight attendant Laura Andrassy in 1981.Their 25 year marriage produced 2 children: Morgan Leigh and Gregory.

Yet in May 2006, Greg announced he was going to divorce Laura, without giving a reason.

But if you let Laura tell it, it was because Greg was having an affair Chris Evert, a married woman. So Greg had to cough up $103 million to get his walking papers.

This of course ended Chris Evert’s 18 year old marriage to Andy Mills, who publicly blamed Greg Norman for his own divorce.

7.  Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison — $118 million

Married in the year 1983, the two called it quits in 2004.

Yet before the divorce was official, Harrison and Melissa had been separated for 4 years, during which time Harrison began a well publicized relationship with Calista Flockhart, even adopting Flockhart’s son, Liam, well before his divorce.

No doubt this didn’t help bring the price tag down.

6. Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey — $150 million

Neil Diamond and his 2nd wife, Marcia Murphy, divorced in 1994 after 33 years of marriage.

Between “irreconcilable differences” and rumors of Neil Diamond’s one night stands , the settlement cost almost $150 million, half of Diamond’s fortune.

Ever the good sport, Diamond has been quoted saying  his ex-wife “earned every penny”.

5. Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan — $ 168 million

Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan were happily married for 17 long years. Yet in 2002, the couple filed for divorce; however, the annulment did’nt take place immediately.

4 years later, they filed again; this time they actually ended up in getting it.

4. Roman Abramovich and Irina Abramovich — $300 million

Currently one of the richest men in Russia, Roman Abramovich, was once just a struggling businessman. In the early 90s, he met and married a beautiful Aeroflot flight attendant. While married, Abramovich struck it rich and after 17 years of marriage, he filed for a divorce. Rumor had it he had found a new love in twenty year old socialite, named Daria Zhukova.

Ever the businessman, Roman Abramovich managed to negotiated the initial $7 billion claim down to about $300 million in cash, homes, a plane and a yacht.

3. Craig McCaw and Wendy McCaw — $460 million

Craig and Wendy met each other while students at Stanford University. A year after graduating, in 1974, the two got married and experienced marital bliss for almost 22 years.

By 1998, irreconcilable differences had emerged, the couple decided to end their marriage with a settlement so big that once the dust settled Wendy was on the Forbes 400 list.

2. Adnan Khashoggi and Soraya Khashoggi — $874 million

A former Saudi arms dealer, Adnan Khashoggi is the owner of Triad, a Swiss conglomerate which owns banks, hotels and real estate around the world.

Adnan married Soraya Khashoggi in 1961, when she was 20 years old.

The Khashoggis were known to be engaged in whats now called “open marriage”, but by 1982 they both  had grown tired of the media keeping tabs on their affairs and negotiated a divorce.

1. Rupert Murdoch and Anna Murdoch — $1.7 billion

Rupert Murdoch’s divorce is considered one of the most expensive in history.

One of the richest men in the world, Rupert pieced together his global media empire all from a single Australian newspaper he inherited from his father in 1952.

In 1967, Murdoch married Anna Torv, an Estonian-born journalist ( shout out to all our Estonian readers out there) working for one of his newspapers.

After remaining married for 32 years and producing 3 children, the couple decided to call it splits.

In 1998, the two divorced, Rupert marrying his former mistress, executive Wendy Deng and Anna marrying William Mann.

Just goes to show that nothing last forever.
